William Russ had a guest role on The Dukes of Hazard as Josh Scroggins (episode: "The New Dukes") in 1982. In 1983, he guest starred on V as Brad twice. In 1985, he got parts on Riptide and Miami Vice. He had a role on Tour of Duty in 1987. In 1992, William had a starring role in Middle Ages as Terry Hannon.
In 1993, he was cast as Alan Matthews on Boy Meets World. During this time, he had guest spots on Socrates Sister,The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr., the pilot for Viper, and Ally McBeal (in two different episodes).
Since Boy Meets World's cancellation, William has had guest spots on Level 9 and Touched by an Angel and has an upcoming starring role on Mr. Sterling. He also appears in Rider Strong's independent movie Buck Naked Arson. Other acting credits include Traces of Red, Pastime, Trail of Tears, Have You Seen My Son?, Crazy From the Heart, The Long, Hot Summer, Wiseguy, Middle Ages, and Capital News. My opinion of him: I think William Russ did a great job both acting in the part of Cory's father and directing some of the BMW episodes. He was very funny, especially in "Career Day" and "They're Killing Us" and a very believable dad.
